Energy & Grid Modernization Strategist
Kerry L. Worthington is a dynamic leader in energy policy and grid modernization, bringing over a decade of experience in renewable energy integration, regulatory strategy, and stakeholder engagement. With a strong background in project management and budgeting, she has played a key role in shaping energy initiatives at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and other influential organizations.
Most recently serving as a Grid Integration Program Manager & Analyst at DOE’s Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy (EERE), Kerry oversaw critical programs supporting the transition to a more efficient and resilient energy grid. Her expertise in grid modernization, regulatory frameworks, and inter-agency collaboration, empowering stakeholders to navigate complex energy landscapes with confidence.
Previously, as a Senior Analyst at BCS Allegient, Kerry was instrumental in establishing a new initiative, Renewable Energy Grid Integration at DOE’s EERE, managing budgets up to $45 million, and streamlining strategic initiatives across DOE offices, ensuring that initiatives are delivered on time and within budget. Kerry served in a chief of staff role, implementing programs and priorities, communicating with legislative affairs, and drafting budget scenarios for the Director. Her leadership extended to cybersecurity assessments, application review boards, and cross-agency coordination on grid-related projects.
Her tenure at the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) honed her skills in policy development, grant management, and regulatory engagement, overseeing multi-million-dollar cooperative agreements and pioneered influential reports on smart grid interoperability, utility finance, and energy resilience.
Kerry holds an MBA from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland and a Bachelor’s degree in International Business from Towson University. She is also certified in Project Management for Development Professionals and has completed advanced utility regulatory training at Michigan State University’s Institute of Public Utilities.
